SVA (pronounced S-WA) is a Sanskrit word that when directly translated means one's own, or of the self.
SVA is part of a growing yoga family. SVA as developed by Anand is the first Canadian Sattva Centre, a sister company to the global Sattva Yoga Centres including Rishikesh (India), Los Angeles (USA), Johannesburg (South Africa), Pacific North West (USA) and Washington D.C. (USA).
With the creation of SVA, our intention is to have a space where we can come together in the spirit of community and experience a journey into authentic self; to be nurtured in a calming and safe environment and to connect deeply to the moment and provide support for transformation on and off the mat.
At SVA, the main style of yoga that we teach is Sattva Yoga as developed by Anand. We also offer invigorating Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Ma Siddhi, creative Vinyasa Yoga, Restorative and Therapeutic Yoga, Yin Yoga along with many unique workshops and special events throughout the year.
Please ensure that you register with us online. You can also follow us on Facebook/Social Media so that we can keep you informed of all up and coming events at SVA.
About Sattva Yoga as developed by Anand
Sattva (pronounced SATT-WA) in Sanskrit means truth, balance, whole, complete. That is the path of Sattva Yoga. It is both ancient and fresh. There is a soft heart with a strong, fierce spine! There is humour and sincerity. It is a complete path to create an experience of wholeness in the individual and the collective.
It includes current evolutionary practices as well as ancient yogic techniques to create a clear path for an individual to experience a healthy, joyous, full and abundant life. It is ever-evolving and an inclusive practice of asana, kriya, meditation, free movement, pranayama, radical aliveness and timeless wisdom.
Sattva Yoga is the experience of non-duality, where both movement and stillness exist at the same time. It is freedom, depth, transcendence, joy, movement, compassion, stillness, grace and truth.
It is the sharing and experiencing of freedom and liberation on every level of our existence. It is coming together for that common purpose and to end conflict in our lives. Sattva Yoga includes and transcends all branches of yoga. It is simultaneously a part and a whole, and by this fact of the coming together, a new layer of intelligence is occurring. Sattva Yoga absorbs ever-new ways of being. Sattva Yoga is alive. It is a way of living by example.
